A Sad Day

My dream to look like this - a long, lean, pregnant ballerina with just a bump of a belly has not become a reality.  I honestly don't even think it is possible.  How can an 8 month pregnant person look graceful (I sure can't at 4.5 months)?

Last night was my last ballet class.  I made it halfway through the class term, but the elegant spinning, leaping, arabesques and toe pointing have all been replaced with toe cramping, twirling myself sick, attempting a leap but barely making it an inch off the ground and losing all unison in body movements.  The barre was quickly becoming my best friend for all balance related exercises and about the only thing I could still do is a plie.  The instructors routine was getting a bit difficult and due to baby brain and pure clumsiness, I just couldn't follow along without working myself into a dizzy, frenzy.  And I've faced the harsh reality that I was never that good anyway.

It has been fun, but my next course of prenatal yoga will probably fit my skill level and body shape a bit better!

16 Weeks

We just hit the four month mark and I am definitely feeling good these days!  Morning sickness didn't get the best of me, but pure exhaustion paired with the cold of the century sure did.  With all that behind me, I'm finally seeing 9:30pm for the first time on a work night in a long time!

No crazy cravings as of yet...just the need for a good turkey sandwich, piece of pizza (or 3) and my go-to of peanut butter on toast quite regularly.  Basically all things unhealthy sound pretty good.  Josh is getting a kick out of my weekend breakfast of fried eggs and toast, because we definitely thought eggs would be my food aversion.  And I cannot wait to get back to Dallas over Christmas and go to town on some queso and fajitas!

The bump is definitely starting to grow and with it are coming some crazy, vivid dreams.  Some so real and clear, I have a hard time determining if they actually are dreams.  I'm also suffering from a pretty bad case of baby brain.  I have determined that I should basically stop talking for the next 5 months.  Sometimes Josh just looks at me and stares as if he cannot figure out what I am trying to say.  But, I have mastered the art of designated driving - shoving as many people as possible into our 2 door Toyota Celica at all hours of the morning...glad I am useful for something!

Let the Christmas Parties Begin

We started the party season with the M&S/Creaseys Christmas party at Beau Sejour, pretty much the only place on the island that can hold 200+ people. It is always a good event with a 3 course meal, bottomless wine (for some of us), raffle prizes, and a DJ.

With my new found second trimester energy, around midnight, we made our way over to party #2 hosted by good friends.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Every year it takes us all of 10 minutes to put up our tree and Christmas decorations...but I still get excited for it! This year, we still have some Birthday decorations up for Josh's 30th.

The Holiday Season has arrived!

Happy Turkey Day

We hosted our second annual American Thanksgiving last weekend and it was again, a success!  The 32 pound turkey was shipped over from the UK and we had it in the oven by noon, after a scare of it not fitting.  I whipped up the stuffing and sweet potato casserole and Josh mastered the turkey and the gravy.  Then our friends helped with the rest of the side dishes, desserts and beverages.

Because Josh is so against his birthday (this year is the big 30), a few of his guy friends got him out of the house for an hour so that I could do a little decorating,  Then we surprised him with a little bit of a celebration.  It was a fun night that lasted well into the morning hours.  The pregnant lady finally hit the pillow at 3:30 and the birthday boy stumbled in around 5am.  It was a lazy Sunday to say the least!

Guernsey Tennis Classic

M&S was a major sponsor in this years Guernsey Tennis Challenge. As the one that coordinated on our company's behalf, I was lucky enough to score some free seats for Josh and I.  We had no idea what to expect but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as the players participated in some "friendly banter" amongst themselves and the audience. At times, it was literally more of a comedy show then a tennis match. We're still puzzled how the following players made it to our little rock and played a match with less then 150 spectators, but we sure are glad they did.

Here is a little about the event and players:

"Some of the world's greatest tennis legends will participate in this year’s event. The field will be led by former Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash. 2012 marks the 25th anniversary of Pat’s famous Wimbledon victory which saw him climb into the stands to celebrate with his friends and family. He will be joined by a two time Wimbledon doubles Champion, Peter McNamara, French Open Finalist Mikael Pernfors, Former World No 14 Younes El Aynaoui and two time Grand Slam Doubles Champion Jeremy Bates. The field will be completed by Patrick Ogier, the most successful Channel Island player ever."

Coming May 26th, 2013

We hit the big 12 week mark on Sunday and had a successful scan the week before.  The little one was fast asleep until the nurse started to poke him with the sonogram wand and then from there we got quite a show! Two arms, two legs, a spine and a symmetrical head were all confirmed. With a heartbeat of 160bpm, plenty of people are putting their money on a girl.

Named Stan for the next 9 months (the first name that came to Josh's mind when he was half asleep one evening) we are so excited to watch the little one grow.

And here is the first of many baby bump pics.
