Southern France

After a year of planning and literally counting down the days, we were finally able escape the gloomy weather of Guernsey and join Kate and Ryan in the South of France!  We ate, drank and hiked our way through the French Riviera up into the vineyards of Provence and Cotes du Rhone.  It was so nice to get the two of them alone for the first time in years...in Europe...every sisters dream!

It didn't take us long to find a perfect spot in Nice to toast the beginning of our exciting trip.

 Old Nice

Views from the top of the Park

DAY TWO- Nice to Antibes to Cannes

 Cheers to Champagne in Antibes

Drinking in the streets of Cannes, we are so classy!

We missed the Cannes Film Festival by a week, however, a few celebs decided to made an early appearance.

 The promenade.

Our attempt to win a million Euros at the Cannes Casino was quickly shot down when we found out the Black Jack tables don't open until 6pm. The next best thing- glass of wine in the sand.

Back in Nice

Victory for Hollande. And we just happened to stumble upon the parade.

Place Massena

DAY THREE- off to Villefranche-sur-Mer aka Heaven on earth!
We took a bus 15 minutes East of Nice and were not dissapointed when we got off and saw this...

A walk up into the castle on the hill brought us back to our Delta Gamma days.

Starting our hike around Cap Ferrat, looking back on Villefranch-sur-Mer

Our hike ended in the beautiful little town of Beaullieu-sur-Mer

Back in Nice, we decided to have happy hour at the famous Hotel Negresco...

...it was hard to tell if it was a hotel or a museum.

DAY FOUR- we rented a car and trecked to St. Tropez.  The yachts were bigger then the buildings.

One of my favourite lunches at Le Det Vin hidden in the tiny, cobblestone streets.  The boys washed down their raw meet with beer.  SORRY DAD!  At least they are still both alive and kicking!

The steps up to the Citadelle

And we were welcomed by a peacock.

View of St Tropez

Walk #2 was supposed to be short and sweet and drop us right on the most beautiful beaches of St Tropez...unfortunately after an hour of walking, slightly defeated, we found out the map was a bit misleading and had to turn around.

In an attempt to not spend a million Euros at dinner, we picked up baguettes and wine and played Hockey on the balcony.

DAY FIVE- we were determined to find the Pampelonne Beaches, so we jumped in the car and spent the morning drinking cappacinos and roasting in the sun.  Then made our way up to Aix-en-Provence.

Zanzibar- the perfect Italian outdoor cafe for lunch.

After lunch we headed towards Aix-en-Provence, with a few stops on the way

The streets of Aix

Dinner at Zinc D'Hugo- Josh and Ryan split the Cote d' Boeuf, it was literally cooked right before our eyes.

DAY SIX- Thanks to my parents gift, our 4th wedding anniversary was spent in the vineyards of the Cotes du Rhone. We started in Gigondas, did a wine pairing lunch in Vacqueyras and ended with Cateauneuf-du-Pape. Our guide taught us everything we possibly need to know about "Terrior"- the difference between wine growing and wine making.

DAY SEVEN- we enjoyed everything that the charming, university town of Aix had to offer.
Starting with the morning market...

continuing with lunch outside and sister bonding over everything retail...

moving on to happy hour and more hockey on the Cours Mirabeau...

and finally ending our last night as a foursome with an amazing meal.

DAY EIGHT- after many hugs, goodbyes and a few tears, Kate and Ryan headed to Paris, and Josh and I moved on to the walled city of Avignon.

 Palace of the Popes

 Parc de Rochers des Doms

It was an absolutely amazing trip with the best company anyone could ask for!

Le Dehus Dolmen

Penny took me on another Sunday afternoon outing.  She has taken it upon herself to be my private tour guide and has created a list of everything I must do and see in Guernsey before I leave...and we are rapidly crossing things off of this list.  Today we visited Beaucette Marina (one of my favorites) and Le Dehus Dolmen, a small set of underground caves that you wouldn't know existed if you drove by.

Horse Racing Time

I was invited to join a table of women for a charity event based around the Grand National horse races. Held at St Pierre Park, 400+ women dressed to the nines, wined and dined and placed bets all afternoon long.  Our horse, Chicago Grey, didn't win us any money...but at least what we lost went to a good cause!

Chamonix

A group of 12 PwC and non PwC'ers, skiers and non skiers, hit the slopes of Chamonix over our extended Easter holiday. We mastered a few different mountains, enjoyed plenty of apres ski, ate traditional mountain cuisine and played never ending games of uno, checkers, pool and foosball...always with the Masters in the background.

The first day, the weather wasn't too inviting to hit the slopes, so Josh and I decided to head into town and explore a bit.

Then it was back to the chalet to hit the hot tub,

and play some uno.

Mexican night- getting groceries back to the chalet for 12 proved to be a challenge, so we borrowed the shopping cart.

Perfect ski conditions at La Flegere

Testing out the slopes of Brevent

Another day back on the slopes

The newest addition to the Parks family...thanks for the stellar gag gift
and a wonderful ski holiday with great friends.
